Historic Washington has many appealing places for locals, but visitors have one, too. The Bowers-Tripp House, built in 1921 on North Market Street, is now a boutique hotel.

In and around the original Washington, the river meets the sound, old structures are given a new purpose, and life above and below the water is in constant transition.

Washington is one of the hidden gems of the Carolina coast. A picture postcard kind of town seated along the banks of the Pamlico River. So the Ell Hotel fits in quite nicely.

Having moved from the Washington D.C. area, Ellen  “Ell” Brabo, 28, now calls Little Washington home. She redecorated, painted and added bathrooms to her physical home – transforming it into the Ell Hotel Bed and Breakfast and becoming the owner and innkeeper.
